(Colombo Lankapuvath) The Kandy-Mahiyangana road from the 53rd to the 62nd kilometer post that covers the 18 curves has been closed for traffic from today (15) for three months.
The closure is due to the upgrading and rehabilitation of the road, officials of the Road Development Authority (RDA).
The reconstruction of the road build by the British began after a lapse of 150 years.
Sections of the road were affected by landslides caused by adverse weather conditions which prevailed during the last few days.
Meanwhile, the Police instructed motorists traveling between Kandy and Mahiyangana to take the Randenigala, Raja Mawatha as an alternative.
